KYD-X is a not-for-profit organisation developed to help raise awareness, promote discussion, discover solutions, and create opportunities for young people living with disabilities to enjoy everyday experiences, every day.

Since 2016, KYD-X has hosted the Kids & Youth Disability Expo, which was created to help parents and carers make informed choices about the support available to them. With over 120 exhibitors all in the one place, the Kids & Youth Disability Expo provides the perfect opportunity to uncover new products and services that can assist young people living with a disability.

Sounds & Vibes is South Australia’s first and only accessible music festival and another fantastic event created and managed by Ben Waechter and the team at KYD-X. Last year, the inaugural Sounds & Vibes event was held at Adelaide Showground, giving some young people their very first experience at a live music concert.

As a not-for-profit, KYD-X is focused on raising funds that will be used to improve experiences for young people with a disability. In 2019, we aim to upgrade the state’s accessible toilet facilities with equipment that will allow people living with a disability to use these facilities with dignity. The current design of accessible toilets, which has not changed since the 1980s, means children, teenagers and people of all ages living with a disability, are forced to be changed on the cold, tiled floor of a public toilet.
